What I was not asking for was inspiration? Tony Robbins says that the quality of your question will match the quality of your answer. It is so true.
The main difference that came up for me between these is that one is fueled by an external force and the other one comes from within. The beautiful thing is that we can use both.
Inspiration comes from within and it is ever lasting. Motivation is driven by an external force and it’s length is finite. So the next time you wonder why your efforts to make long lasting change are not working ask for both.
Motivation feels like a push and inspiration feels like a pull.
It is easier to start with inspiration for a pull and then use motivation to push through. Because when it comes to identifying and accomplishing goals, it may not always look like sunshine and roses so motivation is needed but it is inspiration that is linked to your true values.
Example: I’ll get inspired to try I certain exercise and it may not be weight-lifting but I know it’s the right one for me because it comes from within and then there are days that I don’t feel like maintaining the goal I set in which I ask for external forces to motivate me and get it done.
